This past summer, a brave woman lost her fight against colon cancer. Mrs. Lori Ann North was an incredibly caring, giving woman who dedicated her time to helping those around her. She was known to always have a kind word for others, a hug for those who needed it, or a kind deed for those who were less fortunate. With regards to her passion in life- the rescue of homeless animals- Lori dedicated countless hours towards her fundraising efforts on behalf of Pets Incorporated for animal shelters. She also worked with Pawmetto Lifeline rescuing homeless pets. When Mrs. North was diagnosed with colon cancer, she was determined not to let her illness overshadow the upcoming wedding of her daughter, Hope. She stayed strong during planning of the wedding, and remained vibrant and energetic on the big day. Unfortunately, Lori succumbed to her illness six weeks later, at age 50. Lori’s beloved husband, Joe, continues the fight against colon cancer. In her name, he has raised thousands of dollars in support of USC's Center for Colon Center Research and its research and outreach programs.
